MRrecordings is a record label which mainly focuses on House music, Hip Hop and R&B. The label has been founded by Miguel Rodrigues under the company Miguel Rodrigues Music LTD, registered in London, U.K. The business operates to promote several artists based in London (U.K) and Lisbon (Portugal). MRrecordings has adopted the business philosophy that for long term sustainable growth it will be more successful for the label to sign up just a few bands and promote them equally than to sign up a bunch and hope one is a commercial success. This approach is quite appealing to a few artists. It provides them with the intimate and specialized focus of the label. The artists recognize that fact that this label will be working hard to promote just a few artists and that they will not be lost in the shuffle. In order for the label to succeed, a lot of work will be required. For MRrecordings it helps that these realistic expectations have been established up front, and will not be an unwelcome future surprise. Additionally, the investors (friends and family) are aware of these parameters and have given their blessing. It will take a lot of work to pull this off, but with reasonable expectation up front and the right management to execute on the business model, it will happen. MRrecordings has been founded and will be run by Miguel Rodrigues with the precious help of Damien Swaby and some friends. Miguel Rodrigues arrived to London in 2005 to study music business and music production. He also runs a production company and owns his own recording studio. The Objectives of MRrecordings is to become an established local music label, based on CD and Vinyl sales, mp3 sales, merchandising and a huge focus on live music and shows for our artists. MRrecordings is working with a variety of parties for networking purposes. The first is local radio stations. Being able to get air play for our artists depends on relationships with the key decision makers at the various stations. MRrecordings will also be working with various independent record stores and developing relationships with them. Lastly, MRrecordings will be working with the different clubs to get the artists live gigs. Playing live to local crowds will be one of the most productive activities in terms of developing a fan base and revenue. |
